Vaccinations and Ongoing Wellness Care

Unlike humans that can vocalize changes in their health, our pets are very similar to infants and very young children. Sometime we can see very settle changes in behavior or energy levels yet there could be a severe underling medical condition. This of course is very true of our pets. Because problems are so often overlooked, scheduled physical examinations are the best form of medical prevention and ongoing wellness care an owner can provide for their pets. Dr. Nina recommends an examination twice a year.  Our wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include a comprehensive physical exam, internal parasite testing, heartworm and flea control, vaccinations and specialized blood tests for all stages of their lives.

Depending on the age of the animal, different areas of ongoing care are discussed and most times blood analysis testing is highly recommended. These tests serve two main purposes, the first of course being a check for any abnormalities, but the second purpose is very important as well. In order to see abnormalities, a doctor would always prefer to have normal blood results  to compare their finding against. Keeping a very good record of blood tests each and every year allows the doctor to find problems much quicker whether big or small.

Internal Medicine

We cover all areas of internal medicine including cardiology, ophthalmology, neurology, dermatology, gastroenterology, oncology and endocrinology. What does this all mean for your pet? It means that we have invested heavily in our equipment so that we can provide the very best medical care for your pet. In the past, animal care was always behind human care, well that has changed.

Dental Care

Dental hygiene is an important part of your pet's overall health. Poor dental health can often be the cause of serious illness. If left untreated, dental problems can lead to larger systemic problems in your pet due to oral bacteria entering the blood stream and damaging the kidneys, heart and liver. Many of these problems can be avoided by scheduling regular dental check-ups and teeth cleanings for your pet.

Veterinary dentistry is considerably more involved and time-consuming than basic human dentistry. Cleaning a pet's teeth requires general anesthesia followed by a day-long hospital observation. While your pet is under light anesthesia, our skilled veterinary staff does a thorough dental exam to assess tooth and gum health. We then perform ultrasonic scaling and polishing, as well as the extraction of any diseased teeth. We emphasize home dental care, and we work with you to find a technique of home care that is effective.

Behavioral Medicine and Nutritional Counseling

Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. Our veterinarians are trained in animal behavior and can help determine the cause of disorders such as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment plan for the pet owner.

Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and certified staff are available to help you choose the right diet for your pet in order to keep him or her happy, healthy and active.
